cambodia - Mekong River expedition
/Objective
The NGEN Cambodia Expedition brought together a multidisciplinary group of Explorers Club members to conduct a variety of field research objectives across the rural Cambodian countryside. The expedition team pack-rafted 200 km down the Mekong River, from the Laotian border to the city of Strang Trang, during which members conducted field research both in and along the river’s banks. The initiatives included a microplastics study, wildlife surveys, river health testing, and a local ethnographic study, among others. Throughout the expedition, the team also shared their research by virtually connecting with hundreds of students across North America live from the field.
